Job Title: Deputy Director of Human Resources

Grade: 22 (Non-Union)
Salary: $123,683
Reports to: Director
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Point of contact for all aspects of labor relations, including grievances, arbitration, and collective bargaining.
- Manages all aspects of the hiring and promotion process including, job description development, job postings, interviews, skills tests, and employee eligibility verification.
- Prepare reports as required including Master bid list, seniority list, demographic lists, and union reports.
- Implement HR strategies and adherence to internal policies and legal standards.
- Handle violations invoking disciplinary action when needed.
- Supervise HR personnel and oversee all HR initiatives.
- Coordinate with supervisors in the facilitation of ADA Accommodations requested by staff members, including scheduling meetings, procuring special equipment, and communicating management responses.
- Serve as administrator of all employee benefits including FMLA, disability, and other leave requests.
- Compiles and types letters relating to personnel matters.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree from a four-year accredited college or university.
- Master’s Degree in Human Resources or three years of experience in Human Resources preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of Human Resources best practices and management principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and TEAMS. Must be able to create and maintain spreadsheets. Minimum typing skills of 45 WPM are required.
- Detail-oriented and sensitive to issues relating to confidential information.
- Ability to work as an effective leader.
- Possess excellent written and oral communication skills. Organizational skills are required to maintain and update employee files.
- Knowledge of HR systems, databases, and labor laws.
- Demonstrate the ability to perform under pressure or despite opposition.
- Ability to perform a variety of tasks in strict timelines.
- Ability to communicate and work with staff, the public, unions, and defendants/probationers.
- Must have the ability to travel to different offices for meetings, staffing, etc.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to sit at a desk for long periods of time in front of a computer screen
- Ability to ambulate in the office
- Ability to twist to reach equipment, supplies, or desk items
- Strength to lift files and packages up to 20 lbs.
- Ability to use a multi-line telephone and computer keyboard on a daily basis.
